LOCATION

In the region of Spain known as Extremadura, La Vera is a collection of villages situated at the northwest of Cáceres, in the Sierra de Gredos, watered by the many tributaries of the river Tietar, with a total of 45 astounding gorges. It is three hours drive southwest of Madrid. (See website for further details.)

La Vera rests in the heart of one of the major cherry growing areas in Spain, and is virtually unknown to outsiders. It is unique, pure, authentic and unspoiled.

It bears the hallmarks of the rural, beautiful, and tranquil part of Spain, qualities that are fast vanishing elsewhere. This is no cliché, this is reality.

Out of the sixteen villages in La Vera, many have been cited for preservation by UNESCO, owing to its historical importance and appeal and being packed with architectural interest.

You will be based in the attractive surroundings of Cuacos de Yuste, the central village of this collection of small fascinating villages that inspire awe and inner peace.

You will be immersed in a deep serenity among the well maintained villages with narrow alleyways and timbered houses. With breathtaking views, this region has an abundance to offer all year round.

This place was chosen by Charles V in 1556 to live his last days because of its endless springtime.(For regional weather visit website here >> )

In order to avoid extreme temperatures (heat is no joke in the summer here!) our holidays will run mid September to mid May (excluding one week at Christmas and Easter).
