FOOD

La Vera offers the richest variety of local food and produce, much of it not even tasted outside the region.

Foods such as :

  • home-made pig products (ham, chorizo, patateras)
  • cheese (traditionally made, goat and sheep)
  • olives, olive oil
  • trout fished from the local gorges
  • local liqueurs
  • wine, beer (a delicious local beer made from a 16th century Flanders formula)
  • cherries, quince, figs, oranges and succulent vegetables and fruits...

…makes this area's gastronomy a rich and rewarding experience.

The restaurants chosen are bursting with local flavour and friendliness. Expect to try all the fabulously cooked local cuisine and drink very well and for good value.

Spain is struggling with vegetarianism, however, we are committed to overcoming this bias. Please contact us if you have specific dietary requirements. We do our utmost to meet individual needs.

Behind the scenes, there is a committed home-made range of products. Pig products from La Vera enjoy an international reputation for their quality and unique flavour. Many of these products are made using the famous local ‘pimenton' (high quality sweet smoked paprika) whose formula was brought in from Europe into the Monastery of Yuste by monks during the 16th century.

And … we will take you to the best places to buy the local flavours: you will enjoy food shopping like you have never enjoyed it before!
